In the past 20 years, there has been a documented 400% increase in the use of anti-depressants medications & prescription sleep aids.  At the same time, repeated clinical studies have shown profound negative side effects with the use of these drugs. GABA FORMULA provides a natural alternative to these medications.

GABA FORMULA promotes healthy activity of crucial brain chemicals (neurotransmitters) that allow for rejuvenating sleep & normalized mood patterns.

GABA FORMULA is a scientifically formulated, potent combination of calming & supportive nutrients. This potent, synergistic formulation of the natural calming actions of GABA & 5-HTP (5-Hydroxytryptophan), along with Passionflower, Kava Kava, Hops & Valerian support a healthy, stable mood. These ingredients work together to produce healthy levels of serotonin, and calm the nervous system in order to quickly address sleep dysfunction from anxiety, depression, stress, shift work or jet lag.

Extensive research emphasizes how inadequate Sleep negatively affects your Weight, Immunity, Sex Life & Pain Tolerance. Your Sleep quality in turn impacts your Mood, Memory & Brain Function. Taken 1 hour before bed, GABA FORMULA supports optimal sleep patterns to ensure a restful, rejuvenating sleep without morning sleepiness, unlike most prescription sleep medications.

FOR DOCTORS

PASSIONFLOWER Passiflora incarnata although officially classified as a sleep aid in the EU & NHPD Monographs, is often clinically studied for anxiety usually in combination formulas, and known historically for its use with anxiety. Passionflower enhances the herbal sedative effect of GABA FORMULA, to clearly reduce sleep latency, improving sleep quality.

GABA Gamma Amino Butyric Acid is the primary inhibitory neurotransmitter within the CNS and prevents over-firing of nerve cells. GABA is critical for healthy brain function, promoting overall tranquility and relaxation and is important in mood-modulating brain activity for anti-stress benefits. Sleep regulation is governed by neurotransmitters, including GABA whose many receptors are in the sleep region of the brain. GABA affects the brain directly, increasing brain waves associated with relaxation (alpha waves) and reducing those associated with anxiety and stress (beta waves). GABA FORMULA is extremely effective against insomnia due to the presence of GABA and its regulatory effect on the brain, inducing its relaxation, and calming its excitability.

KAVA KAVA Piper methysticum been extensively studied and found to be effective through mild sedation to promote sleep, reduce convulsions and relax muscles, through kavalactones found in the root. These kavalactones potentiate GABA activity, but do not affect levels of domapine and serotonin in the CNS. Although a GABA antagonist, Flumazenil did not show an antagonistic effect on kavalactones, inferring that other mechanisms may be involved.

Kava research for treating anxiety had been reduced because of reports of liver toxicity. In vitro studies found that the stem peelings, which are traditionally considered by-products, are toxic to liver cells, due to the pipermethystine alkaloid (not the kavalactones in the root). GABA FORMULA ensures that only the Kava root is used for safety and efficacy issues.

HOPS Humulus lupulus has been added to GABA FORMULA to potentiate the Valerian within, as many studies support this. Sleep latency (the time required to fall asleep) was reduced when Hops was added to the Valerian formulation. This combination was also studied to demonstrate that it affects the central nervous system within an hour to underline the dose regimen of taking it one hour before bedtime. When artificially sleep-aroused patients were measured in 2004 and found an increase in relaxation brain waves (alpha-1-power) whereas beta-2-power waves, indicating high alertness and mental activity, were reduced.

INOSITOL is a key component within cell membranes and crucial neurochemical messenger signaling release of both serotonin and norepinephrine. As a B vitamin relation, Inositol is also involved in glucose and fat metabolism. Inositol has been studied clinically to show benefit on sleep, mood and emotional stability.

MAGNESIUM bisglycinate is a more bioavailable form of an essential mineral responsible for hundreds of chemical reactions in the body. Important relevant reactions include muscle contraction/relaxation, cellular energy production and nerve cell conduction. As such, Magnesium contributes spasmolytic effects on tense muscles which can cause restless, disturbed sleep.

VALERIAN Valeriana officinalis has historically been used to promote relaxation and sleep, through the sedative effect via stimulation of GABA. Several placebo-controlled human studies confirmed Valerian’s ability to reduce sleep latency and improve overall sleep quality.

5HTP L-5-HYDROXYTRYPTOPHAN in GABA FORMULA is a metabolite of the amino acid tryptophan, crossing the blood brain barrier to increase production of both serotonin and melatonin, in the CNS. Serotonin deficiency manifests as mood disturbances (depression, anxiety, irritability, negative thoughts), sleep problems, aggression and memory impairment. Other symptoms include sugar and alcohol cravings, binge eating, headaches, muscle aches (fibromyalgia) and premenstrual syndrome (PMS).

5HTP increases serotonin levels, increasing REM and deep sleep phases, ensuring restorative sleep patterns. This important brain neurotransmitter is key to regulate mood, appetite and melatonin production. Healthy serotonin levels equate to a balanced emotional well-being through lowering the activity of excitatory hormones, dopamine and noradrenaline.
