Your Adrenal Glands create the Stress Response prepares you for “Fight or Flight”. Today’s stressors include Work Demands, Money Issues, Relationship Tensions, Diets with Excess Sugars & Starches, Environmental Pollution, etc. Common signs your body is feeling overly stressed include Stomachaches, Hair Loss, Eyelid Twitching, Acne, Back Pain or Rashes.
Healthy Adrenals are critical to coping with Stress. When the adrenals are provoked, various chemicals are released including cortisol, to allow your body to either deal with, or escape the stressful situation.
The issue lies in life’s constant barrage of stress, which can exhaust your adrenal glands. The high cortisol levels of chronic stress can cause high blood pressure, weaken the immunity, cause early aging, as well as anxiety, depression, infertility and stubborn belly fat gain.
STRESS FORMULA promotes healthy, balanced adrenal (stress gland) function by providing a potent, adaptogenic formulation with the full spectrum of nutrients and botanicals. All stages of acute and chronic stress may be addressed by the botanical adaptogens included supporting the body's adaptability to stress, improving mental and emotional well-being as well as enhancing physical & mental endurance.
Improved coping and recovery from physiological stressors is facilitated by this clinically effective combination including Pantothenic acid, Siberian ginseng, Ashwagandha, Korean ginseng, Maca, Rhodiola and critical vitamins & minerals required for healthy stress hormone & brain chemical balance.

FOR DOCTORS
Adrenals are bilateral glands superior to the kidneys. The outer adrenal cortex secretes steroid hormones including cortisol, aldosterone and androgens such as dehydroepiandrosterone (DHEA). Non-steroidal catecholamines epinephrine (adrenaline) and norepinephrine (Noradrenaline) are secreted from the central adrenal medulla. Stress, whether emotional, environmental, blood loss, or temperature changes, induce chemical and neural messages from the hypothalamus to trigger the release of these stress-response hormones, cortisol and catecholamines.
Hypothalamus releases CRH which acts on Pituitary to release ACTH which acts on Adrenal Cortex to release CORTISOL.
Hypothalamus activates Sympathetic nerves innervating Adrenal Medulla to secrete EPINEPHRINE & NOREPINEPHRINE
Various stressors, mental, emotional, physical and physiological, such as pain, low blood sugar, high blood sugar, hormonal imbalances or deficiencies, anxiety triggers increased cortisol levels. These stress hormones cause the fight or flight response seen as faster & enhanced heart contractions, blood flow to brain and skeletal muscles, dilation of airways, increased blood sugar through protein and fat breakdown and water retention. Too much cortisol suppresses the immunity, weakens connective tissues, impairs the healing response, prompting anxiety and sleep disturbances. Over time frequent cortisol spikes deplete adrenal hormonal reserves leading to adrenal fatigue and exhaustion.
Health problems arise with chronic, long-term stress including higher blood pressure, increased clotting, neurodegeneration, insulin resistance, weakened immunity and visceral fat gain translating to a higher risk for obesity, heart disease, diabetes type II, cognitive and immune dysfunction.
PANTOTHENIC ACID VITAMIN B5 is a water-soluble B-complex vitamin playing a crucial role in endogenous steroid synthesis. Coenzyme A (CoA) is the biologically active form that is used for cholesterol production, which is the precursor for all steroid hormones. As such, healthy Pantothenic acid levels are integral for adrenal glucocorticoid synthesis.
Animal and human evidence suggests the importance of Pantothenic acid for optimal adrenal function. A deficiency shows progressive morphological and functional adrenal gland changes. Adrenal hypofunction results as difficulty coping with stress. If supplementation is given before adrenal exhaustion, the stress response can be rectified.
Adrenal function is improved even when Pantothenic acid is supplied although dietary Pantothenic acid is adequate. Pantothenic acid has shown to improve & optimize stress response by normalizing markers of oxidative stress such as lipid peroxidation and levels of liver CoA & reduced glutathione.
One report documented a high proportion of schizophrenic patients having adrenal dysfunction, which improved with Pantothenic acid.
SIBERIAN GINSENG (Eleutherococcus senticosus) has been classified as an adaptogen, and is well documented as being able to increase physical and mental abilities, as well as assist in the recovery from diseases.
ASHWAGANDHA (Withania somnifera) has a long history of traditional use in Ayurvedic medicine. It is considered an adaptogen in Ayurvedic medicine and is used as a general tonic to increase energy, improve health and longevity and prevent disease. Indian Ginseng, is considered anti-aging in its adaptogenic effect to nourish and strengthen the body. Like Panax & Siberian Ginseng, Ashwagandha has immune-boosting benefits. All three Ginsengs (Ashwagandha, Panax & Eleutherococcus) provide enhanced immunity, improved physical & work activity, promote a healthy appetite, enhance mental acuity, and provide anti-inflammatory and anti-aging effects and protection against xenobiotic toxins.
Ashwagandha has a neuroprotective effect through its antioxidant action, and reduces cortisol secretion triggered by stress. Also, Memory and cognition are enhanced due to increased cortical cholinergic activity.
GINSENG (Panax ginseng) is well documented as being able to increase physical and mental abilities, as well as assist in the recovery from diseases. Panax improves fat and carbohydrate metabolism to ensure more efficient fat burning. Panax also supports healthy testicular function, enhancing testosterone and spermatozoa production. All three Ginsengs (Ashwagandha, Panax & Eleutherococcus) provide enhanced immunity, improved physical & work activity, promote a healthy appetite, enhance mental acuity, and provide anti-inflammatory and anti-aging effects and protection against xenobiotic toxins
Panax Ginseng is traditionally used to restore and enhance normal well-being and increase resistance against physical, chemical or biological stress. It has been used to enhance physical performance, and also acts as an aphrodisiac. The NHPD monograph states it is used to help enhance physical capacity/performance in cases of physical stress. Recent studies have shown ginseng to have hypolipidemic and antioxidant effects.
The recently published NHPD monographs state that the ingredient is used herbal medicine to help support cognitive function and/or reduce mental fatigue in cases of mental stress and used in herbal medicine to help enhance physical capacity/performance in cases of physical stress.
MACA (Lepidium meyenii) has a history of use as a food staple, as well as traditional use for improvement of sexuality and fertility by residents of the Peruvian Andes. It has been cultivated in Peru for over 2000 years. The indigenous people of Peru have traditionally eaten the hypocotyls of maca as a staple food. Traditionally, maca root has been used for anemia, chronic fatigue, female hormone imbalances, menstrual irregularities, enhancing fertility, impotence, and stamina.
RHODIOLA (Rhodiola rosea) is classified as an adaptogenic herb as it improves the body’s ability to cope with stress. Rhodiola has demonstrated to effectively reduce fatigue, increasing work capacity, while improving mood, and cognitive functions, like memory and learning. The inflammatory marker, C-Reactive Protein (CRP) has been shown to decrease with Rhodiola supplementation.
Rhodiola (Rhodiola rosea) Rhodiola rosea has a history of traditional use in Eastern Europe and Asia for functions which include stimulating the nervous system, decreasing depression, enhancing work performance and reducing fatigue. For centuries, R. rosea has had general use in Russia, Scandinavia and Iceland as a health-enhancing supplement. Its roots have been used for centuries in traditional medicine to stimulate the nervous system, enhance physical and mental performance, improve resistance to high altitude sickness and to treat fatigue, psychological stress and depression.
Preparations of the herb are used as a brain-tonic, and also to alleviate fatigue. As discussed in a review of the herb, various animal studies have demonstrated evidence to support the use of R. rosea for the treatment of various ailments including depression, fatigue, insomnia and headaches. The pharmacology behind R. rosea’s adaptogenic properties is attributed to p-tyrosol, salidroside (synonym: rhodioloside and rhodosin), rhodioniside, rhodiolin, rosin, rosavin, rosarin, and rosiridin.
R. rosea is most effective when administered several weeks before, and continued throughout expected periods of stress. It has been categorized by Russian researchers as an adaptogen because it increases resistance to various chemical, biological and physical stressors.
VITAMIN C (ASCORBIC ACID) status must adequate for production of epinephrine and norepinephrine, the non-steroidal catecholamines secreted from the adrenal medulla.
NIACINAMIDE (VITAMIN B3) is a constituent of Glucose Tolerance Factor, and crucial in processing fuel molecules into energy.
THIAMIN (VITAMIN B1) is an important component in glucose metabolism for cellular energy (ATP) conversion. Supplementation of Thiamin improves impaired glucose metabolism which may be associated with Thiamin deficiency. Thiamin intake may also prevent plaque formation within blood vessels, which occurs in patients with high blood sugar and insulin levels.
RIBOFLAVIN (VITAMIN B2) is crucial to coenzymes, flavin mononucleotide (FMN) and flavin adenine dinucleotide (FAD), that are involved in protein, carbohydrate and fatty acid metabolism.
PYRIDOXINE (VITAMIN B6) in the form of Pyridoxal-5’-phosphate (P5P) is imperative to the conversion of protein and carbohydrate stores into glucose to regulate blood sugar between meals. P5P is also vital for the formation of several neurotransmitters, including serotonin (from tryptophan), dopamine, and norepinephrine.
ZINC (ZINC BISGLYCINATE) is required by enzymes involved in DNA synthesis, neurotransmitter metabolism, free-radical deactivation, and metabolism of a variety of hormones (growth, thyroid, and sex hormones and insulin), depleted from excessive stress. Zinc is essential for optimal insulin function and healthy body tissues. Deficiency may cause impaired glucose tolerance.
COPPER (COPPER II BISGLYCINATE) supports the production of super oxide dismutase (SOD), which quenches free radicals. Reducing oxidative stress may reduce glandular (hypothalamic, pituitary and adrenal) stimulation from elevated cortisol levels.
VITAMIN B12 (HYDROXOCOBALAMIN) is crucial for mood and mental support. The aging suffering from mild memory loss and confusion may improve with Vitamin B12 supplementation.
FOLATE (VITAMIN B9) is also crucial for mood and mental support. Mild folate deficiency may result in anxiety, irritability, and impaired concentration which may improve with increased folate intake.
CHROMIUM (CHROMIUM POLYNICOTINATE) is an integral part of Glucose Tolerance Factor (GTF), which improves cell response to insulin, increasing glucose utilization.
Chromium (200 mcg), tested in eight female patients in a double-blind crossover study, was found to alleviate hypoglycemia within three months. Insulin receptors and binding improved emphasizing chromium deficiency relation to low blood sugar.
